The certificate of competency for cruising area 3 entitles the holder to independently operate yachts up to 24 metres in length and a coastal distance of 200 nautical miles.
THEORETICAL EXAMINATION: The theoretical examination consists of a written multiple-choice test and a chart work. For the multiple choice test a list of questions is presented in advance, the chart work as well as questions for the theory test are covered in the course.

According to § 15 para. 11 of the Maritime Navigation Act (BGBl. 46/2012), viadonau is responsible for issuing international certificates for the operation of motor yachts or/and sailing yachts with a length of up to 24 m and a gross tonnage (GT) of less than 300. The International Certificates are based on the recommendations of the UNECE (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft, in short: IC).
